Newton's Nook Designs Launch Party - Day 2

Hi there! Welcome back to the Newton's Nook Designs Launch Party! It's Day 2 of the festivities and I hope you are all having fun! We have another fun set to introduce today, this one Just Say Cheese. It's an adorable set that I can see used in cheese parties! So cute!!!

 For my first card, I wanted to make a little cheese card! So I die cut different sized circles randomly on some cream cardstock. Doesn't it look like cheese already?! :) I stamped in the little mouse on the cheese, colored it in and fussy cut it. I also stamped in a sentiment right under.

For my second card, I cut out some rays and adhered it onto some kraft cardstock. Then I stamped in the sentiment and little speech bubble on the side and attached the grate that I colored and fussy cut beside it.

Newton's Nook Designs Launch - Day 1

Hi there! I've had these little cuties under wraps for a weeks now. I'm so happy to be a part of the launch of a wonderful new stamp company...Newton's Nook Designs! You are in for a few days of adorable!!! 

I was excited and nervous when Jennifer asked me to be a part of Newton's Nook Designs. I haven't dabbled enough in cute and graphic stamps, so you can imagine how nervous I was. But after seeing the entire first release, and working with the stamp sets first hand, I just absolutely loved the adorable images!!! So I agreed to try it on for size and guest design for now! I really hope you'll like what I have for you these next few days!!! 

Today we're introducing Newton's Antics. I am a cat lover and so I absolutely love this set! For my first card, I tried my hand at paper piecing. I don't do it often, but I find that these images look wonderful paper pieced.  I kept things clean and simple! I adhered my paper pieced image over an oval piece of patterned paper. And since it was clean and simple, I used foam tape just to add some dimension to my card. I stamped my sentiment on a little banner that I created and tucked it under Newton. :)

For my second card, I have a little something more up my alley. I did some background stamping. You'll be seeing more of the cute little hear strings in another release day, but for now I just used it as a cute little background. I added the cute little paws here and there too.

Then I added a little circle where I stamped my sentiment, then adhered another paper pieced Newton over it. I also inked the edges of my cardstock with some pink distress ink. I was trying to make a masculine cat-lover card for my first card and a feminine cat-lover card for my second card! ;)

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge 100

Hi there everyone! We're in Newport with our friends and having a nice time in the sun. But I did have some time to sneak in a little challenge or two. Our fearless leader and good friend Chupa is celebrating her 100th sketch over at Sketchbook Saturday Challenge. Of course I had to celebrate it with her!!! So here we go!

I used my Papertrey Ink stamps for today's project. I made this with the Mini Blooms stamp set and die. As well as Happiness in Bloom.

I won't go into detail about my card as I'm just sneaking this in between all the sun and swimming. lol! I'll be back on Thursday with another card!

A little tutorial

Hi there friends! I hope those living in the US had a nice July 4th celebration yesterday. We're headed off for a little vacation to Rhode Island this Sunday until Friday of next week. Aside from my weekly CASE Study Challenge cards, the blog will probably be a little quiet. But make sure you come back right after because it's going to get busy again as soon as we get back! :)

I do have a little sneak peek I wanted to share with you. I was recently contacted by Heidi from A Cherry on Top to make some card tutorials for the readers on their forum. Clear & Simple Stamps - Blog Feature

Hi there! Welcome to my CSS Blog Feature! I was recently lucky to win a guest designer spot over at Clear & Simple Stamps. I'll be having posts spread out until July so please come back regularly to check! :)

Let's get to my first set for today. I made a card with a coordinating tea gift box to go with it. I've been a tea drinker since I was little. My grandparents are Chinese and there was always freshly brewed tea in their house. I absolutely love the smell of freshly brewed tea. And I absolutely love beautiful tea packaging. I hope you'll like what I have for you today. 

 I combined Fanfold and Morning Brew. I heat embossed Fanfold in gold embossing powder.  I've made so many gold cards lately I've lost count! lol. Anyway, after I embossed the background panel, I die cut a circle in the middle. Then I stamped the label image and fussy cut along the edges. 

I adhered it over the die cut circle with a strip of striped pattern paper. Then I placed a coordinating green cardstock behind the die cut to bring in more color to the card. I wanted it to look elegant, I hope I did so here. :)

The tea box is pretty easy to make. I have a little tutorial on how to make it.

Start by cutting your cardstock into a 5.5" x 10" piece. Then score at the following measurements. At 1.25" and 4.25" on the shorter side.

 And at 1", 2", 5.5" and 6.5" on the longer side.

 Now cut along the lines shown in the image.

 Fold the scored areas and assemble with a good strong adhesive.

 You can use a sticker to seal it, or you can seal it with twine and a brad like I did. I used brown twine for my project. I can't remember why I have this aqua one in my image! lol. 

When you're all done, decorate the front with whatever design you want. You can use any patterned paper of your choice. Or you can do what I did, make a coordinating design for your tea box.

Whew! This must be the longest post I have ever made! But don't go just yet, I have another project using the same stamp sets! I wanted to show you how it's so easy to change the feel of your project just by changing your color choices and combining other stamp sets along with it!

 For this set, I used Morning Brew, Fanfold, By the Glass Jr Too, Distressed Linen and Favor Flags Fillers.

Waltzingmouse Stamps July Release Blog Waltz

Hi there! Welcome to the Waltzingmouse Stamps July Release Blog Waltz! Did you just come from Jen's blog? If you did, you're right where you should be! If not, head on over to the Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog and start at the beginning! 

I made two sets for the Blog Waltz today, so grab a drink and let's go through them together! My first set is made with the Fine Feathers stamp set. It's my favorite one this in this release. I really enjoyed using it. 

This was my inspiration for my first project.

I stamped four different feather images. Three onto cream cardstock, which I fussy cut. It is absolutely worth the effort of fussy cutting! I used HA Soft Pool, Fresh Peach, Cup O' Joe, Soft Sand and Soft Granite.

I have been seeing feathers used for gift packaging over at Pinterest and I wanted to make my own. This set is absolutely perfect for it!!!

Now onto my  next set. Like I said on Day 1 of the WMS July Release, I found out that there are Russian Doll themed parties. I thought they were absolutely adorable! So I made a little after party Thank You set using You're a Doll.

 And here's a gift baggie. I made this gift bag myself using drawing paper from Ikea. You know those rolls of drawing paper for kids? They're perfect for making gift baggies that you want to decorate yourself! I did this for Christmas last year and people asked me where I bought them! I said I made them myself and they were startled because they thought that it was store bought! :)

Waltzingmouse Stamps July Release Previews - Day 2

Welcome back! Did you enjoy yesterday's previews? Well, if you loved yesterday's projects, you are going to love today even more!!! It's my favorite stamp set for the July Release!!! WMS proudly presents...FINE FEATHERS and CRACKLE BACKGROUND.

I have been wishing for a feather stamp set for awhile now. I was so happy and excited when Claire showed these to us a few weeks back. There's another feather stamp set that's being released this month, the other DT are showing them off on their blogs. So make sure to check out all of the DTs blogs so as not to miss anything!

If you were here yesterday, you'll know that I've been having this obsession with the color gold lately. This is my third gold card for the week actually. :) What do you think? This has to be my favorite card so far! 

I stamped the feathers on vellum and fussy cut each one. Claire will have cut files for these beauties. I just wanted to fussy cut them, but if you don't have any patience for fussy cutting, then cut files are for you! :) I used Hero Arts Soft Cantaloupe, Fresh Peach. The other feather was heat embossed with gold embossing powder.

To give it more dimension I scored the "vein" of the feather and slightly folded it in on itself. I could imagine gold confetti surrounding the feathers but didn't have a confetti background stamp. So made do with what I had in my stash. The circle/dot image is actually a berry from Festive Foliage. The smaller dots, believe it or not, actually came from me using the opposite end of a paint brush. I inked it up with the same Hero Arts Soft Sand ink and stamped it randomly. I wanted to use gold ink but didn't have any. Then I was pleasantly surprised that the Soft Sand looked a lot like pale gold. So it all worked out in the end! :)

I have one more card for today. This one is for the Mini Crackle Background stamp. WMS is also releasing a full size background stamp set as well. I used this yesterday on one of my Russian doll cards. It's a wonderful background stamp that I can see myself using a lot.

Since I've been making a lot of feminine cards lately, I thought I would make one masculine card. I'm ashamed to say that Father's Day had come and gone without me making a card for it!!! So in an effort to make up for it, I made a belated Happy Father's Day card for today.

This one is made in combination with Half Pint Heroes, Join Us,  Man of the Hour, and My Kind of Guy. If you saw the samples from yesterday, I also used this background set, and I used HA Soft Sand ink. I found that changing the colors also changed the mood for that the background pattern. So experiment with different colors and have fun with it! :)
