Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 91

Hello! Still busy, busy, busy. I'm just popping in to share a card I made for Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge. I am absolutely sure that CAS lovers everywhere will love our sketch this week! For me, it was sooo hard! lol! If you guessed a one layer card...then you are absolutely CORRECT!!!

I made several attempts to keep it simple. But I just couldn't help myself. I had to keep on stamping! In the end, I came up with a background pattern! Here's my card for this week's WMSC 91.

It's sort of a one layered card right? Heehee. :P
I made a pattern using Florentine Frippery and Victorian Frippery. Then I sewed the panel onto my kraft card base.

After I had made this, I had no idea where to put my sentiment without keeping things flat. So I made a belly band instead and stamped my sentiment on it.

Since I had a hard time with this sketch, I am so excited to get ideas from you guys! I wanna see what you make of this sketch! Please join us for another round of friendly paper crafting at Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge. See you there! :)

Washington DC Trip

Hi friends! I don't have a card for you today. Instead. I'm sharing some of the pictures I took while we were on our little weekend break in Washington DC. It was a nice and cool weekend with some very mild showers that we didn't mind at all. It was great to do all that walking and not feel overly heated.

I'm very stingy with taking pictures...it's unfortunate...but here's a bit of what I got.

There were rows and rows of these beautiful cherry blossom trees in parts of the National Mall. They were so beautiful. I had a bunch of the blossoms in my hair by the time we left.

Me and hubby. I seriously need to get a better camera! I've been thinking of getting a Canon Eos Rebel t3i just for this purpose. To be able to take a picture of us without anyone's help.

The flowers in the Flower Library were already in bloom. They were sooo beautiful! I don't even know what these are. lol. Sorry.

There was a festival concert going on at the center of the National Mall. But there was just sooo many people that we didn't want to squeeze in with everyone else. So we opted to go off on our own.

All in all, I love visiting Washington DC. It's my second time to go, but I think I wouldn't mind going again for some relaxing time. Actually, I wouldn't mind moving there all together! Heehee!

I'm a bit busy making cards for a stamp release coming up this weekend, as well as making cards for my other DT assignments. I'll be back sometime mid week though with a card for everyone! See you soon! And thanks for stopping by! :)

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 90

Hi bloggers! Yay! It's finally the weekend. I made this post ahead of time because me and my husband are off to Washington DC to see the Cherry Blossom Festival. I'm excited to see it. I never have before. It's also a nice little break from work.  I'll have pictures posted when I get back. :)

Let's get going with the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 90. We have a lovely sketch by Renee Lynch. I try to stay within the scope of the sketch as much as I can. But once in a while I like to play around with it. I'll show you what I mean. But first, here's Renee's sketch for this week's challenge.

So here's what I did with the sketch. I used an image from Florentine Frippery to flank my tag. I stamped it and heat embossed it so that it would stand out. Then I used a die from PTI to cut out the little blue panels and sewed them onto the patterned paper panel.

I added some crocheted lace and seam binding ribbon to make it a little bit more "frilly". :)  I also added a key from Michael's to the knot. The floral ticket, I can't remember where I got it from exactly. I just know that I found it over at Pinterest. It was a free printable. I cut that out and adhered it on a tag. It's not too visible, but I actually stamped some of the flourish images from Paris Nouveau on the edges of the tag.

I also added this die cut from Ironworks Motifs by Spellbinders. Then I adhered the Webster's Pages silhouette/cameo over it.

I couldn't find links for the leaves. But they're from Recollections and they're distributed by Michael's. Then I attached the flowers over a portion of the leaves. They're from I am Roses

I hope you liked my card for today. I thoroughly enjoy looking through submissions over at Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge. I might not be able to comment on everything, but I try to as much as I can. So I hope I'll see your work over there!

Thank you for stopping by today! I'll be back in a few days! Enjoy your weekend!

The Craft's Meow March 2012 Release Blog Hop

Hello! Hello! Yay! We're finally at the end of the previews and I can show you all the wonderful stamps The Craft's Meow is releasing this month of March. Welcome to The Craft's Meow March 2012 Release Blog Hop!!!

I'll feature my card for the hop before I reveal the stamp sets ok? :) If you just came from Iwona "Chupa" Palamountain's blog then you're in the right place! If not, head on over to the TCM blog and start there.

For my card, I combined Beautiful Spring and Mother & Father by Nina Brackett. I've kept it pretty simple because I didn't want to take away from the gorgeous butterfly.

I stamped it on cardstock and colored it with Copic markers then hand cut them. I layered one over the other using foam tape.

I just added a little die cut and a strip of lace to give it a more feminine feel. Isn't that die cut beautiful?! It's from Spellbinders. I had a hard time removing the cardstock from the die at first. Then I read over at the SB blog that you should use wax paper when using these intricate dies. So I layered a film of wax paper above the cardstock. It worked great and I had an easy time removing the die cut image.

Let's start with stamp sets from Nina Brackett.

The Craft's Meow March 2012 Release Previews - Day 4

Hello again! Welcome back! It's Day 4 of The Craft's Meow March 2012 Release Previews. We have one last stamp set to preview today, Thanks Bee to Thee. We also have another challenge today, the Birthday Theme Challenge.

TCM is giving this set as a gift with any purchase of $50 and above. And the prize for the Birthday Theme Challenge is a guest designer spot for TCM. Isn't that fabby?! :) Here's what I came up with...

I took some of the colors from the Birthday theme challenge and incorporated it into my card. I made my own background panel by stamping an image from the set and making a pattern. It reminded me of a bee hive...a colorful one. :)

I cut a strip of aqua patterned paper and attached crocheted lace and rickrack over it. I can't remember where I got the crocheted lace from. It was from Etsy but the store closed already. The rickrack strip is actually from my trip to the Philippines last year.

I die cut this doily and stamped my little butterfly on it. I stamped the butterfly on the same patterned paper I used for the doily and cut out the wings. Then I adhered it onto the first image with foam tape. I added some flowers from Recollections and buttons from Michael's.

Go to the Crafts Meow blog HERE and comment to win this set, you have until 9pm PDT, Friday, March 23rd. You can also join the challenge for a chance to win.

I'll see you all again tomorrow for the Blog Hop. Enjoy your day! And thanks for taking a peek! :)
