ICSketches #60

I've recently discovered blogs with card making challenges. Aren't they the best? Although I must say I enjoy the color challenges better. But still, these are fun as well. I think it's a bit easier when you have a guide to follow. I saw that ICSketches had a new challenge and I thought I'd submit a card for it. Here it is, I had so much fun making this. The stamps here were mostly from Inkadinkado, the rest I can't remember :) oops! sorry! Cardstock was from DCWV and punches were from Fiskars. Enjoy!

CPS 160

Hi! This is another submission for the CPS Card Sketch 160. I just started submitting cards to the CPS weekly Card Sketches, so I'm unfamiliar with their rules. I hope it's allowed to post more than one. I was watching my usual Make a Card Monday tonight and as always Kristina inspired me to make some time for my card making. : )  This is from a DCWV mat stack that I found super cute!!! I thought I'd use it in this card. Enjoy!

Just posting - - > my Papertrey Ink order hasn't arrived yet :( it's been days. I placed the order last Tuesday night. How long does it usually take to deliver anyway? Oh, and I also made a card last Sunday night that I didn't post. So I guess I'll just post it here. I made it with my best friend in mind. It's her birthday this Wednesday and I miss her sooo much. Enjoy!

CPS Card Sketch #160

Hi! Here's my submission for the CPS Card Sketch 160 this week. I wish I could make my pictures come out more vibrant. This just doesn't show the wonderful colors on the patterned cardstock! But anyway, enjoy!

Card Stock: DCWV, SEI
Ribbon: Celebrate It
Button: Making Memories

Oh, and since it's a weekend I made another card. This one has nothing to do with the CPS Card Sketch, I just wanted to make another one! :)

Saturday Cards

Hi! It's finally Saturday! And it always means I have a lot of time to make cards. Yay! I just made my first on-line order from Papertrey Ink. I've been waiting since Wednesday actually. When I come home from work, I automatically head for the mailbox to check if it's there already. I don't know why, but they don't provide a tracking number at all. I just got a confirmation slip for my order and that's just about it. Anyway, I can't wait for it to arrive!!! I've always been a Michael's and AC Moore shopper. Only because I'm new to this and those were the first stores I've ever gone shopping for my scrapbooking and card making supplies. (Not to mention I love the coupons that save me a lot of money!) But since reading Paper Crafts, Cards and Creating Keepsakes, I discovered that there are better stamp sets online!

Anyway, enough of my ranting about waiting for my order to come. Here's what I made this Saturday! Enjoy!

I was just at AC Moore today (with a 50% coupon in hand) and bought this lovely Friskars border punch. I've been waiting for forever for it to show up so I can use one of my coupons on it. I was delightfully surprised to find it on the racks today! And don't you just love the cute little birds on the pattern paper?! I'm not sure if it's visible but there's also a background stamp in chocolate brown on the card itself. I thought it would be too plain if I'd left it brown.

This is a little baby card I also made. There's another Friskars border punch on the bottom. Don't you just love border punches? They add so much to the card! I was watching Kristina's Finally Friday Video and it was baby themed, so I made a baby card. I'm not so much into the digital card making or scrapbooking yet. I think it's so much more fun working with paper, adhesives, buttons, ribbons, punches...don't you? Anyway, have a nice weekend!

Inspirational Card Sketches #59

Here's my take on the ICSketch #59. But instead of placing an oval on the side, I thought it would be more whimsical to place embellishments instead. I found this super cute tea set in one of my Cricut cartridges and thought I'd try using it on this project. Sometimes it's hard to make Cricut-made embellishments pop because sometimes they just lie there flat. But I thought placing the rhinestones would add some interest to it. It's very different from the other cards that I normally make. For one, there's no ribbon. And I'm a sucker for ribbons! (It's all because of Kristina Werner! Haha!) But I thought this one was cute. I enjoyed making it. Hope you like it! Enjoy!

Wishing You Well

CPS Card Sketches - #159

Hi! I found this gorgeous patterned paper in my scraps pile and suddenly had the urge to make a card. Brown is one of my favorite colors and I thought I'd play around with it. I didn't make anything elaborate. But the matting on the back of the sentiment..it's actually stamped using a Hero arts background stamp. I thought it would be subtle and wouldn't take away from the lovely patterned paper. Enjoy!

CPS #159 Submission

I love online challenges. They give you some sense of direction as to what card to make for that day. It's just that there are infinite possibilities and coming up with just one is sometimes hard to do. And so here is my submission to the CPS challenge. I made my own embelishment on the side, by using my cricut machine and a dotted stamp set from Inkadinkado. I love how it's monochromatic, I think it turned out ok. Enjoy!

Bee Thanks

Hi! Happy Monday! I was looking through my old cards today and saw my yellow striped pattern cardstock. I suddenly remembered how much fun I had using it. And minutes after I found myself making a sketch of a new card I could make using it. Although, I was leaning toward using black and white stripes on the top and bottom (I wish I had that Papertrey Ink stamp set!!!) I ended up using my yellow striped cardstock. Anyway, it turned out good even if I didn't follow through with my sketch. I enjoyed making this card a lot. Here it is!

I love Sundays

Don't you just love Sundays? Kick your shoes off, relax on the couch, watch a movie, make a card...a few cards... :) I saw this scrapbook page with this gorgeous yellow and gray coloring. I thought I'd make a card with the same colors. Here it is! Enjoy!

ps. Isn't that floral background beautiful?

Ok, so I had a LOT of free time on my hands...I made another one. This one I just really loved the patterned cardstock. So I used it again. (I used the same cardstock for my Finaly Friday Video and had lots to spare...) Enjoy!

Nice Running Into You

I just remembered that I had bought some stamps during my vacation. I was going through them and thought that this sheep stamp was just adorable. I didn't know what sentiment to go with it, and I only own a handful of sentiment stamps. So, I tried what many card makers do...write my own sentiment! I never wished I had much better handwriting until this moment! Hahaha! Anyway, enjoy!

Finally Friday Card

Hi! This is my submission for Kristina Werner's Finally Friday Video card. I had a lot of fun making it. And I decided to go with a 5 x 5 card instead of the regular size this time. I love the colors of the cardstock, with the rich brown and orange tones. Enjoy!

CPS #158 Entry

Hi! This is my entry for the CPS #158 Card Sketches. I saw this really really cute slipper patterned paper and thought I would love to use it as an embelishment rather than as a background patterned paper. And so I cut them separately and put them in a row. I love them!!!

I love challenges like these. They give you a purpose or "theme" when making a card. Which is sometimes hard to come up with. And I love looking at people's work. They're all very inspiring! Enjoy!

For the Trees

Hi! This is my entry to Paper Crafts' make-a-card challenge. Ok, ok...so there are no trees in this card...but I chose the green patterned paper because it reminded me of trees. :)  And of course, how could I miss the chance to use my monkey stamp once more :)  Wish me luck!Enjoy!

St. Patrick's Day Challenge

Hi! Stormy day today! My poor husband had to go back to work twice today to take care of some things. I've been cleaning and doing laundry all day. Even gave the dogs a bath :) After everything was done, I suddenly wanted to relax and make a card. I just watched Kristina Werner's Finally Friday Video last night and I wanted to make a card myself. She's such an inspiration. I find myself waiting for Mondays and Fridays gladly because of her videos. I'm not very familiar with St. Patrick's Day, I just notice green all around hehe.
And so this is my version of a St. Patrick's Day card! Hope you like it!

I chose different shades of green and blue-greens. I hope it's visible in the picture. I don't have a very good light source and so sometimes my pictures don't exactly look the same as the real thing. But I hope this looks good enough! I had fun making this card! And just because I have a little more time on my hands...here's another one! Enjoy!

I"m Back Home!

Hi! I'm back home from vacation. That was a wonderful wonderful vacation that I wish wouldn't end. There was only one little thing though...I didn't have my scrap/card making table!!! Although there were so many things to do and see, I would always miss making cards and scrapbook pages. And so I would find myself running into booksales to look for back issues of my favorite craft magazines. (Card making and scrapbooking are still new to the Philippines and so they didn't have much for me.) I did find to my delight that there's a Scrapbooking Society of the Philippines! Looking at samples from what the members had made gave me a little smile each time. Although they have no idea what they're missing!!! Scrapbooking and card making supplies were so scarce I wondered how they managed to make those pages let alone start a Scrapbooking Society! I hope more of our supplies find their way there so that more people can enjoy what we are all enjoying right now. So on my first few days at home I made a scrapbook page and card. Here's my card, I feel a little rusty so bear with me. :)

I'm still not very good at taking pictures of my cards. It looks so different when I look at it on my desk and when I see it on my blog. The colors aren't as vibrant. I only have a point and shoot little Canon camera for now...perhaps later on?.....  :)

Oh and you will not believe what I found in one of my trips!!! A little market that sells paper/fabric flowers, ribbons, buttons, rhinestones...and soooo much more!!!! The ribbons were $3-$5 dollars each for 50 yards!!! Yes! You read that right! 50 yards!!!! I was in ribbon heaven!!! I couldn't buy all the ribbons I wanted for fear of not being able to bring them all back due to weight constraints. And so I ended up with 40 spools! :)

I was sooo excited while choosing that the sales clerks couldn't understand why! Hahaha! But they were all smiling. I guess it was because I looked like a kid who found ice cream heaven! :) Anyway, it's good to be back updating my blog.

Thanks and take care!
