Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 99

Hi there! How's your Memorial Day weekend going? My husband and I are actually moving into a new apartment this weekend so we're going to be busy, busy, busy. It will probably go on until next weekend because we can't get off work during the weekdays. So before I pack up my craft supplies I have a few cards for some DT spots that I have to make. You might not see me in some of my other DT challenge spots next week though...

I did have enough time to make a card for Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 99. I believe this is Lynn's last sketch for the month. And it's a great sketch! So let's have some fun shall we? Here's the sketch...

I was hoping to get my new Waltzingmouse stamps in the mail, but they haven't arrived yet. So I'm still waiting...in the meantime, I used some older sets, they're still goodies though! Here's what I came up with...

The sketch was absolutely perfect for layering!!! So I layered away! :) I used the biggest image in Very Vintage Labels No. 18. I stamped it, die cut it and embossed the edges. Then  I layered on a doily, a circle punched from some My Mind's Eye patterned paper. And on top, I stamped and hand cut this beautiful image from Cameo To Go.

I made the flower using flower dies from Papertrey Ink. I layered canvas and patterned papers to make it fuller. I used the leaf images from Roses In Bloom, to make the leaves for my paper flower. I stamped them, colored them and hand cut them. Then I crumpled them to add a little texture.

I also stamped and cut these cute banners from Bitty Banners and adhered them over my crocheted lace. I stamped my sentiment from Fancy Phrases on a die cut banner and adhered it under the cameo.

That's all I have for you today. It's going to be a little quiet here next week. But there's going to be a stamp release for one of my DT spots next week...so I'll still be in the loop. I hope you enjoy your long weekend. Thanks for stopping by today. Please join us over at Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge! I'll see you there! :)

The Craft's Meow May 2012 Release Previews...Day 4

Hi! We have another round of previews ready for you today. Welcome to The Craft's Meow May 2012 Release Previews! Today we're introducing two very fun and graphic stamp sets, Typically Teen and Retro Foundations. Both from our very talented designer, Karen Baker.

Typically Teen

Retro Foundations

I have two projects today, one for each stamp set. I made them in completely different styles. One is a bit CAS and the other a bit shabby chic. Let's get started! Here's my first card using Retro Foundations.

I love this color combination! I die cut a label, a flourish and some numbers and put them together. The circular pattern on the label is one of the cool retro images in the set. After stamping the pattern, I put together the label, the flourish and the numbers.

I also stamped Happy Birthday several times on the background panel. I didn't want to leave it blank so I did the background stamping with a sentiment from the set.

This is my favorite image from the set. I repeatedly stamped this on the bottom portion of my card and colored it in with my Copic markers. I added the ribbon and flowers...and viola! Here's my card! :)

For my second card, I went in the CAS direction. This one is using Typically Teen. I wanted to be able to switch from different card styles and I've been practicing lately.

I used different images from the stamp set to make my background panel. Then I stamped this cut car image from Vintage Rides and colored it with my Copic markers.

For the sentiment, I just stamped Congrats on some kraft cardstock and used my pinking shears on it. I also added a little more of the sentiment underneath it. The little tab above is a die from PTI.

I had a very tiring Saturday, with a lot of errands to run. My mind feel's very fuzzy right now so I hope you still had fun with my post today. Don't forget, you have a chance to win these stamp sets over at The Craft's Meow Store Blog. All you have to do is leave a message. See you again tomorrow for the blog hop! :)

The Craft's Meow May 2012 Release Previews...Day 3

***My Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 98 post is just below, please scroll down to view it.***

Hello again! Day 3 of The Craft's Meow May 2012 Release Previews here! I'm hoping that you're enjoying the sneak peeks. Today, we're introducing another wonderful set from Nina Brackett. This one is called Sew Happy

Anything related to sewing is such a big hit in the crafting industry. So this is one set you'll love to have in your stash. Here's my project for today.

I actually combined a few of our release stamp sets for this card. You've seen some of them already these past few days. I'll get to the ones you haven't seen yet in the next few days. I took a piece of patterned paper panel from My Mind's Eye and stamped some flowers, the dress form and a border stamp on it. Then I stamped the spool on some kraft cardstock and hand cut it. I also wound some twine around it to add a little texture.

Since the set is a beautiful vintage style, I added some vintage looking lace trim on it and tied a ribbon around it. I stamped my sentiment on a strip of cardstock and cut it into a banner. I attached it with some foam tape and placed the button on the end.

Don't forget to make your rounds through the TCM girls' blogs. And don't forget to leave a message over at The Craft's Meow Store Blog for a chance to win this set. All you have to do is leave a comment! Good luck! See you again tomorrow for more previews! Thanks for stopping by today! Enjoy your weekend.

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 98

Hello! Yay! Thank goodness it's the weekend. This week just seemed to be dragging on, I thought it would never end. I've been so busy this week, getting home really tired, so I haven't been up to making cards lately. I managed to squeeze this in though just to get a little break from everything. We have a new sketch over at Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge. Here it is...

Oh boy, this sketch had me running! lol! It's tricky, tricky, tricky! I'm fond of using panels on my cards, but much bigger ones. So this was a little tough. If you love a challenge...this one's for you! :) Here's what I came up with...

I sat at my desk for quite some time thinking of how I could make this sketch my own. I grabbed a panel of vintage cream cardstock and just stamped away, using Gingham & Co. After I stamped two consecutive strips, I noticed that I actually liked the 3/4 inch of clean area left at the bottom. That's when I knew that a beautiful strip of lace would be perfect to put on it. It's cheating a little...but then again, this sketch is open to interpretation. Heehee!

After the background panel was done, I decided to put together the different "pieces" of the card. I used different images from Bitty Banners, Dainty Doilies - Large Set, Fancy Phrases, Heirloom Patterns, and Nordic Spring.

All the little elements are on foam tape to give it a little "lift". That's it for me! I hope you'll join us over at Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge! See you there!

The Craft's Meow May 2012 Release Previews...Day 2

Hello again! I'm back for Day 2 of The Craft's Meow May 2012 Release Previews. Today we're introducing two stamp sets:

 For My Dad
by Michelle Bertuzzi

Dads & Grads
by Kaitlyn Ord

I made one card with each stamp set. I veered away from my usual style for these cards. I wanted to make masculine cards this time. I had no idea how to incorporate shabby chic with a masculine card. It just didn't seem right. lol!

Let's start with my first card for today's sneak peaks...
I tried my hand at making a CAS card for this set. Knowing my dad, he likes things simple. So I just stamped the tie image from Dads & Grads in different colors on a panel of Oatmeal cardstock from WPlus9. Once the ink had sufficiently dried, I ran it through my Cuttlebug with a wood grain pattern impression plate from PTI.

I also stamped this sentiment and hand cut it. I placed it over some twine that I tied around my card base. I also added some buttons to balance things out.

For my second project, I stayed within the CAS card style. Again, another masculine card for Dads. I love this pocket watch image from  My dad has one and he has always appreciated time pieces. So I stamped the image several times to make a background pattern. The checker board stamp is also from a new set that we're releasing this month. But I'll get to that in another day. I do have to say that I LOVE using it though! ;)

For my sentiment, I hand cut a banner and stamped the wood grain background to add a little "texture" to the appearance of the strip. Then I added the sentiment and a few repeated stars.

That's all I have for you today. I hope you enjoyed it! Just a little reminder...you have a chance to win the sets being introduced today. All you have to do is leave a message on The Craft's Meow Blog! Don't forget to check out what the rest of the TCM girls have for you. Leave them some love as you go! :) See you again tomorrow!

The Craft's Meow

Let's get started! Today we're introducing Flower Garden from the amazing Nina Brackett. This is an amazing mix and match set that you are absolutely going to love! I know we all probably have several flower sets already...but a girl can never have too many!!! :)

So here's my project for today's previews. These were my favorite blooms in the set. I stamped them in different shades of blue-green for my background. Then I heat embossed this gorgeous image from Sent With Love to make the bottom panel of my card. I zigzag stitched it onto my main background panel.

I die cut an oval vintage cream cardstock and stamped my sentiment on it. It's also from Sent With Love. I matted that with another die cut label from Spellbinders. I added the pearls for a little bling. The butterfly is a punch from Martha Stewart Crafts.

After I finished the top part of my card, I thought that something was missing on top. It seemed like I left a lot of space there. So I took my punch from Martha Stewart and added the lace edge to my patterned paper. Almost all the patterned papers used are from My Mind's Eye.

You have a chance to win Flower Garden! All you have to do is leave a comment on The Craft's Meow Blog! Easy! Peasy! Make sure to check out what the other TCM girls and guest designers made for you! Leave them some love. We really love reading your sweet comments. It makes the previews even better! :)

That's it for me today! I'll see you again tomorrow for Day 2 of the previews! Thanks for stopping by today!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 97

Hello again! It's finally the weekend. If you're anything like me, you do most of your crafting on the weekends. If that's so, then it's always nice to have a few challenges you can join. It's Saturday, welcome to Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 97! :)

Here's our sketch for this week. This one's from Lynn.

And here's what I came up with.

It's pretty simple really. I layered some patterned paper over my card base. I used WPlus9's Kraft cardstock. If you don't know yet, WPlus9 is offering three new sets of cardstock, white, kraft and oatmeal. It's a very good quality kraft cardstck. I've been using it a lot in my cards lately.

On the top most patterned paper, I heat embossed a doily image from Dainty Doilies - Large Set. Then I stamped this beautiful butterfly from Nordic Spring. I inked it with Simply Chartreuse in the middle then Ocean Tides on the edges.

I wanted a simple sentiment to match the card, and this one was perfect. I just love sentiments that combine different fonts. This one is from Frame It. I notched the sides of the front of the card and tied some twine around it. I also added pearls on the back of the butterfly to add a little "bling".

I hope you like this one. I'll see you over at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge! Thanks for stopping by today! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)

The Craft's Meow May Sketch Challenge

Hello again! I'm back with a card for The Craft's Meow May Sketch Challenge. It's a bit late I know, but I've been a little busy. I hope your weekend was nice. It was very restful for me. I actually went to get a hair cut on Saturday. I asked the stylist to just trim about 3-4 inches off since my hair was really long.

I don't know what happened, she was working at the back and by the time she got to the sides I saw that she had cut so much and that my hair is now very short. I was so annoyed. I just let her finish since there was nothing else I could do. Hopefully it grows back really fast.

Enough with my little rant. Let's get to the sketch shall we? This month's sketch is from Nina Brackett. It's a great sketch, I had a lot of fun with it. I think you'll enjoy it as well.

I know the sketch has a butterfly on it, but you don't have to follow that. You can put anything you'd like there. Just as long as there's an element present. Here's my project for the challenge.

When I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to work with a different medium other than just paper. So I grabbed a sheet of canvas and die cut three circles and stamped an image on it from Simply Delightful. I colored it with my Copic markers. I noticed that the Copics will bleed a little. So before you keep going, you can wait for one color to dry before putting in a new color. I ran my nails through the edges to give it that frayed look. Then I covered the edge with some crocheted lace.

The butterfly background I stamped on a panel of patterned paper. The paper is from My Mind's Eye, and the beautiful butterfly images are from Beautiful Spring.

I stamped my sentiment from Mother and Father, then cut out the edge of the strip to make it into a banner. I backed it with a tag from Timeless Tags, that I cut into two and adhered to the back of the strip.

That's my card for the sketch. I'll be back with some more this week. Make sure to join us for a little inky fun! Thanks for stopping by today! Enjoy your week!

WMSC 95

Hi friends! It's finally the weekend! It's been such a dark, rainy and all around gloomy week. I hope we'll see more of the sun next week. Now if I didn't have to go to work, I would love a rainy and gloomy day. Perfect for bumming around the house! lol!

I do most of my crafting on the weekend and I'm sure a lot of you do too. Well, here's one reason to craft this weekend...Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 95 is on and live! This week's sketch is by our very sweet Kelly Schirmer.

WMSC96.jpg

This is such a fun sketch! I don't normally use this much buttons on my card, but this sketch is just so whimsical I just had to put them in there. Of course you can use something else other than the buttons if you want. Here's my project for this week.

All patterned papers used on this card are from My Mind's Eye. It seems to be the only brand of patterned paper I've been using these days! I just love them!!! I used Seasonal Remedies for the main image. I know it's nowhere near Christmas yet, but the sentiment didn't seem specific to me. We all could use and give some Good Will right? :)

I also stamped an image from Dainty Doilies 2 behind the die cut label. It seemed bare to me when I was putting the card together.

I know it wasn't in the sketch, but I added some flowers and a crocheted lace ribbon on the side. The sketch is open to interpretation after all! :)

I hope that proved to be some inspiration for you. Please come and play with us this week at Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge!

Just a little note, if you don't know yet, Claire is giving away £50 on her blog this week! All you have to do is leave a comment there on what kind of card you make the most. Pass the message to your other crafty friends because if comments go over 100 she's giving away another £50!
