Papercrafts Magazine: Gallery Idol 2011

Good morning bloggies! I'm spending a nice Sunday bumming around the house. lol! I used to do this a lot with my sister. And now that I'm far away, I'm bumming with my husband this time. Haha! I came across my friend Chupa's post today. And I have to say, that I feel the same way she does when it comes to Papercrafts Magazine submissions. They're more into the CAS style of card making and it's quite hard to get any of my cards in.

But I was inspired by her courage and seeing as the audition required a congratulations card I thought I would give it a try. My cousin-in-law just gave birth this Friday to a beautiful baby girl. And a congratulations card was in order. :)

And so...with my fingers's my submission for the Papercrafts Magazine: Gallery Idol!

I started by stamping a newsprint background from (PTI) in wheat chalk ink. Then I added the strip of pink patterned paper on the left side of the panel. I've been wanting to use my newly purchased lace pieces and I thought it would fit just perfectly for this card. I also attached this gorgeous ribbon for a pop of dark color.

To even out the lace and ribbon on the left side, I stamped some PTI stamps on the right side of the panel. I tried to keep it simple but still me. I hope I hit the mark for this one! Are you planning on joining too! Let's all go! You never know! :)

  1. It's brilliant Jean and good luck

  2. This is such a beautiful card, I don't see why it wouldn't be accepted by PaperCrafts Magazine.
I might have to try making one of my own.

  3. Love your card Jean - so pretty and perfect for a new baby card ;)
I think it's definitely hard to figure out what the selection process entails for editors who are choosing between submissions - they have to factor in so much... style, product, seasonality, techniques used... Seems to me a minefield so no wonder it is hard for some of us to get picked. Mind you I am not brave enough to even try so I can't begin to put a finger on the exact ins-and-outs of it I suppose! I'm done philosophising for now!!!
Good luck with this stunner of a card though ;)
    Hugs, Ruth S

  5. I am crossing my fingers for you. I can't see why they wouldn't pic this. Such a sweet card and lovely lace trim. :)

  6. Wishing you best of luck, sweetheart! It's a magnificent card!
