Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 50 and CR84FN31 and a trip to M&J Trimming

If you're looking for my Card Patterns guest DT card, it's right here.***

Hi friends! After getting much rest and some retail therapy, I managed to make a card this morning. But before I get to that...I want to tell all of you about my exciting trip to the city yesterday to visit M&J Trimmings. If you're unfamiliar with it, it's a store in Manhattan that sells, trims, ribbons, buttons, flowers, and anything else you can associate with them. I didn't take any pictures but I got some off of the internet which is pretty much what the place looks like.

As I walked into the store this greeted me...a WALL of ribbons! There were satin, printed, organza, gross grain, etc. You name it, they HAD it! I felt like a kid who just walked into a HUGE toy store! lol! And then as I went through the store...I found these...

And at the very back of the store...oh my goodness...I think my heart must have skipped a beat! lol! I found THESE....

It was a wall of lace!!! Crochet, venise, eyelets...etc. I spent an hour in this store and my husband had to walk 10 blocks to go visit his favorite store because I was taking too long. Hahaha! But he was such a sweet heart about it. We made the trip to the city just so I could visit this store. Well, we did go see the Harry Potter Exhibit as well...but it was nothing compared to this. Heehee! :P So if you're ever here in NYC, don't forget to visit M&J Trimmings!

Now onto the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 50 and CR84FN31. I felt bad not coming up with a card for the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge. I always try not to miss any DT posts if I can help it. But since I missed posting one yesterday, I'm making up for it today. Aside from using the sketch, I incorporated the colors over at CR84FN31 as well. Here's the sketch and color combination.

Here's my card. I was a little stumped with the sketch in the beginning. But last night I had this idea in my head. I wanted to use these Spellbinders dies to make the squares for my card. I also stamped Text It behind on the vintage cream cardstock and inked the edges of the panel. I also die cut the fancy label and stamped Fancy Phrases on it. I used the Venise lace I got from M&J Trimmings on it since it was what gave me the idea for the card. Isn't it beautiful?! I don't think I bought enough lace though. Haha! Looks like we'll be making another trip to the city in the near future.

It's not very visible because it's transparent, but there's a bead hanging from the ribbon, I also got it from the M&J Trimmings. It's actually a yard of ribbon with a LOT of beads attached to it. I bought it because of the beads and that I would be getting the pre-made bead "charm" for a cheap price without having to go through the trouble of making the charm myself. Hehe. I hope you like my pictures and my card! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)

As always, don't forget to browse through the cards of the other Mischief Makers as well as Waltzingmouse Stamp Design Team sites.

  1. OMG Jean!! This is just amazing!! That lace trim is to die for!! I actually could feel your excitement as I read this post because I would feel the exact same way!! My dh would know as well, to just leave me be and find his own stores!! I love when he says, "take your time!" oh, my!! I would've dropped a pretty penny there! LOVE the square panels you chose and all your beautiful details...one question...do you iron your seam binding or do you purchase trim that has not been scrunched...I'm noticing more people not scrunching it, but using it flat...Oh, this is total eye candy!! I need to come to NY!!
