The Craft's Meow May 2012 Release Previews...Day 2

Hello again! I'm back for Day 2 of The Craft's Meow May 2012 Release Previews. Today we're introducing two stamp sets:

 For My Dad
by Michelle Bertuzzi

Dads & Grads
by Kaitlyn Ord

I made one card with each stamp set. I veered away from my usual style for these cards. I wanted to make masculine cards this time. I had no idea how to incorporate shabby chic with a masculine card. It just didn't seem right. lol!

Let's start with my first card for today's sneak peaks...
I tried my hand at making a CAS card for this set. Knowing my dad, he likes things simple. So I just stamped the tie image from Dads & Grads in different colors on a panel of Oatmeal cardstock from WPlus9. Once the ink had sufficiently dried, I ran it through my Cuttlebug with a wood grain pattern impression plate from PTI.

I also stamped this sentiment and hand cut it. I placed it over some twine that I tied around my card base. I also added some buttons to balance things out.

For my second project, I stayed within the CAS card style. Again, another masculine card for Dads. I love this pocket watch image from  My dad has one and he has always appreciated time pieces. So I stamped the image several times to make a background pattern. The checker board stamp is also from a new set that we're releasing this month. But I'll get to that in another day. I do have to say that I LOVE using it though! ;)

For my sentiment, I hand cut a banner and stamped the wood grain background to add a little "texture" to the appearance of the strip. Then I added the sentiment and a few repeated stars.

That's all I have for you today. I hope you enjoyed it! Just a little reminder...you have a chance to win the sets being introduced today. All you have to do is leave a message on The Craft's Meow Blog! Don't forget to check out what the rest of the TCM girls have for you. Leave them some love as you go! :) See you again tomorrow!
