Curtain Call Color Challenge Act 43

Hi! Sunday is almost over and it seems I haven't rested enough. I'm just glad for this hobby we all share and enjoy. Otherwise, I think a person would go crazy just working and working. So Stacey has posted another challenge this week. I must say, I love the colors on the picture, but I was totally clueless as to what to do with this one. I started with the green and from there I grabbed my Turning a Leaf stamp set. I love this stamp set. There are so many possibilities for it, the only problem is, I'm always limited by my imagination. I'm so grateful for everyone who shares this hobby, because whenever I need inspiration, there's always one around. :)

I chose to keep things simple today with this challenge. It's mostly white with little bursts of colors here and there. Here's the Curtain Call Color Challenge Act 43 color combination, and my card submission for this week. I hope your week starts and ends well!

Supplies:
Cardstock - white (PTI), green (Paper Comapany)
Patterned Paper: orange (SEI)
Stamps: Turning a New Leaf, Big and Bold Wishes, Beautiful Blooms II (PTI)
Others: ribbon (Wendy)

SFYTT

Hi peeps! I can't believe I had to work on a Saturday this week! Well, at least I had some time to squeeze in one challenge. When I saw this sketch, I immediately knew I wanted to use my new fillable frames #1 die. And for some reason yellow and brown were on my mind. So I pulled out my Dotty Biscotti and everything just fell into place. I also wanted to use my Tea for Two and thought that the color combination would be just right for it...and it was! :)

Well it's pretty late already, so enough of my chit chat and here's the sketch and my submission for it! Have a nice weekend everyone!

Supplies:
Cardstock - kraft, vintage cream, dark chocolate (PTI)
Patterned Papers - dotty biscotti (PTI), back to basics (BoBunny)
Stamps - Tea for Two, Background Basics: Text Style, Distressed Stripes (PTI)

Embellish Magazine Color Challenge: Quirky - Cutesy - Clean Style

Hi peeps! Embellish Magazine has another challenge this week. This is one of my favorite challenges and I always have to try to join it. I love, love, love this week's color combination. It's sooo soft and subtle. I was going through one of my favorite blogs and I read in a comment that this color reminded her of Sarah Martina, I totally agree!!! This is just her color combination. I thought that was really cute.

Anyway, my order from PTI just arrived today, and of course I had to ink them up right away! I must admit I struggled a little with the Little Argyle stamp set. For some reason I couldn't make the right placement. And I was a bit disappointed that the Aqua Mist ink wasn't so visible on the kraft cardstock. I inked it until it was absolutely juicy...but it didn't help much...hopefully it's visible in the background though. And I used a patterned paper from October Afternoon again. I am just so addicted to this paper. I love using it! And you know me, I love to use my favorites for the month. Hope you don't mind! :)

So, this week's challenge is quirky - cutesy - clean. And this challenge has such a wonderful sponsor! Lawn Fawn! I must admit I have always wanted to get my hands on some of their stamp sets. I just haven't gotten around to doing so. It looks like I just might have to now! :)

Anyway, without further ado...here's Embellish Magazine's Color Challenge: Quirky - Cutesy - Clean Style.

Card Patterns Sketch 76

Hi peeps! FINALLY, after months of thinking it over, I finally bought a small sewing machine. As some of you might have read in my previous blogs, I don't sew. I have no idea what to do with a sewing machine at all! But after seeing so many beautiful cards with stitches, I finally decided I should get a small one just for my card making. When my Janome Sew Mini arrived yesterday, I was so nervous. But thank goodness for Gina K's stamp TV. I learned how to "fill" up a bobbin and how to thread the machine and use it. Yay! After practicing on a few sheets of paper, I decided it was now or never. So here's my FIRST card with "real" stitches on them!!! Hee! :)

This is for Card Patterns Sketch 76. As you can notice, I changed it up a bit. But I still tried to follow the sketch as much as possible. Hope you like it!

Supplies:
Cardstock - vintage cream (PTI), black (Paper Company)
Patterned Paper - thrift shop (October Afternoon)
Stamps - cupcake collection, big and bold wishes, dot spot (PTI), background text (Hero Arts)

WMSC #9

Hi peeps! I didn't have work today so I had some time to catch up to some card challenges. I was trying to think of something other than flowers to put on my card but eventually I ended up with them anyway. I just really, really wanted to use my favorite flower stamp set, Year of Flowers - Violets from PTI. I also wanted to use some of the patterned paper I had just gotten on my trip. I just love the colors on these papers!

I stamped the violets on different patterned papers. Then I cut them out one by one. In some of the flowers, I only used the center and discarded the rest. I wanted to add dimension to the flowers and so I used some foam tape, pearls and rhinestones. I also used the stamp set I won from PTI, Big and Bold Wishes. This has been on my want list for such a long time. I don't know why I kept on pushing back on ordering it. I was so very pleasantly surprised that it came early, I wasn't expecting it until a week or two from now. It was just perfect for this card! :)

Here's the sketch from Waltzingmouse.

Supplies:
Cardstock - white, vintage cream (PTI)
Patterned Paper - thrift shop (October Afternoon), ever after (Cosmo Cricket), sunflower double dot (bobunny), ancestral bird brocade (TPC studio)
Stamps - year of flowers: violets, big and bold wishes (PTI)
Others - labels one (Spellbinders), pearls (Recollections), rhinestones (Queen & Co.)

Curtain Call Color Challenge Act 42

Hi everyone! Here's another attempt at catching up with all of the challenges I've missed last week. Curtain Call has an new color challenge this week. When I saw the color combination I was a little worried. I'm not very good with using orange. But after looking through my stash of patterned paper everything just fell into place. I haven't used my SU 5th Ave. Florals in a while. I thought it would be perfect for this color combination. I colored it using colored pencils and then balanced it out using odorless paint thinner and a shading stub.

I really wanted to use swirls comprised of pearls. I don't have any of those ready made ones from Making Memories. I actually stamped the swirl and covered it with pearls. I did it ONE BY ONE. It took a while as you can imagine. But it looks like it paid off in the end. I can't begin to tell you how tedious it was. Lesson learned...next time, buy the ready made swirly pearls. :P

Anyway, here's my submission for this week's Curtain Call Color Challenge Act 42.

Supplies:
Cardstock - vintage cream (PTI), brown (Paper Company)
Patterned Paper - garden variety (Cosmo Cricket), sweet pear dots (BoBunny)
Stamps - 5th Ave. Florals (SU), sentiment (Violets:PTI)
Others - brown ribbon (Celebrate It), pearls (Recollections), edge punch (EK Success)

Embellish Magazine Color Challenge - Featuring Birds

Hi everyone! We had such a great time in Florida this past week! Fun but very tiring with all the walking we did. I actually had time to visit some of Orlando's scrapbooking stores. They had a great collection of patterned paper!!! I felt like a kid in a candy store! :) My sweet, sweet husband actually drove me around Orlando in search of several scrapbooking stores we found on Google maps! And he waited patiently as I went shopping in each store. :) Isn't he the sweetest?! :)

I was going through my favorite blogs and I noticed that I've missed a lot of card challenges. I guess I have a lot of catching up to do. First one up is Embellish Magazine's Color Challenge featuring birds. I thought that the color combination was really beautiful. And to pair it up with birds. Perfect! I couldn't believe it though...I looked at my stamp sets and found only ONE bird stamp. Yes, you read that right, ONE. I was sooo glad to find out that some of my Cricut cartridges had bird designs on them. It was such a great save! :) I had such a great time making this card after one week of not making anything at all.

Anyway, here's my submission for this Embellish Magazine Color Challenge:

Supplies:
Cardstock - chocolate brown, raspberry fizz (PTI), cream (Paper Company)
Patterned Paper - polka dots (Reminisce), other (My Mind's Eye)
Stamps - cherry blossoms (Rubber Stampede), Mega Mixed Messages (PTI)
Others - ribbon (Celebrate It), rhinestones (Queen & Co.), bird die cut (Cricut: Pagoda)
